She and I got right to work because my in-laws were on their way from Ackley, Iowa, a small-town community just northeast of Des Moines. My sister is the ultimate entertainer, cook and designer. I have always marveled at what she can throw together in a matter of minutes and make it look as if she has taken a few weeks. She has always had this talent even as we were growing up - she and my mother in the kitchen whipping up tasty connoctions while I was left to the vacuumimg and dusting of which I was became very good at. I have always admired her talent - becoming very jealous at times to the point of anger - but I have also learned so much from her. She dove right in and helped but more than that we had some wonderful conversations of which even when we were angry with each other, we could always talk.

We got to work and had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Her family and mine. Everything in my home has a touch of my sister - her flare for "just the right touch" and her sense of placment. However, Thanksgiving was all our Mother. Her holiday dinners were outstanding - bringing my brother to comment one Christmas after opening presents that the "best is yet to come." Meaning her holiday dinners were always something to look forward to.

It was wonderful to spend Thanksgiving with my sister aeeend her family. We don't see each near enough and she truly made it a Thanksgiving to remember.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
