There is a reason you have not seen photos of my bedroom, it needs to be completely redecorated. And since today is Mother's Day, I woke up thinking, if I could have my perfect Mother's Day gift what would it be? The answer, a new master bedroom.
For years I have coveted the Valencia Sleigh bed from Pottery Barn.
Here it is without all the fixings. Just perfect for my small bedroom!
Lamps like this on either side of the bed.
And a sleek armoire with a small sitting area. Here are my two favorite choices, although I would not use the blue fabric in the second photo.
The palette would be calm and serene with white and cream colors. I don't have a window seat in my bedroom, but that would be wonderful!
My guest room needs help... mostly cleaned out. Now acting as junk room. It has a wonderful antique bed. I suppose I need to start with new carpet, then paint, and new bedspread and curtains.
ReplyDeleteDo you agree carpet would be first decision?
Hi Judy,
ReplyDeleteIt's always so nice to hear from you! And since you asked, paint comes first, then carpet. Curtains and bedspread can happen at the same time or in any order that's easiest for you. Since the bed is the room's focal point, I usually get that done first, then work on curtains. Let me know what you decide to do.
Cheers, Genevieve
Of course! I wouldn't want to paint after I had new carpet installed. What was I thinking. I'm such a sloppy painter too.
ReplyDeleteWhat are new colors for bedrooms these days? I still like a light blue or green. Something calm.
I'd love to re-do my master bedroom. A few years ago I "experimented" with painting the trim a dark colour. It is a dark olive green and the walls are a lighter moss green. I hated it almost right away. I have been putting off re-painting because it will be a ton of work to turn the trim back to white. Also the bedroom always seems to come last. All the furniture is hand-me-downs, garage sale and secondhand and nothing really matches very well. If I had tons of money I'd hire someone to come in and re-do the whole room.
ReplyDeleteHi Genevieve :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to hear from you! I just finished catching up and realized that I hadn't been by for far too long.
The room I would most like to redo is my living room. It's way too packed with furniture, but I can't bring myself to get rid of anything LOL I think I need an antique intervention ;)

rue
Hi Judy,
ReplyDeleteYou are completely 'on trend' with your bedroom color choices of green and blue. Blue is considered classic and green falls into the 'new neutrals', colors found naturally in the environment. Other colors in this group are warm browns and light sand. Just stay away from yellowish-greens. I can say from experience that it's not flattering to any skin tone!
Warmly, Genevieve
Oh Carrie,
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about hand-me-downs. We still have some of my husbands bachelor bedroom furniture. You can imagine how I feel about that!
Warmly,
Genevieve
if you lived in the Boston area I'd give you my mother's contact information as she is about to sell that very bed (and they only used it for a year!)
