Book Group at the Jewel Box Home!

I hosted our book group the other night!  We read 'Where'd You Go Bernadette' by Maria Semple.  This book is on my top ten all time favorite books.  A great story that will have you crying and laughing at the same time!

Munchies were pizza and brownies.  The perfect pairing!  I ordered the pizza from our local favorite spot then put the slices is in a woven tray with a liner of aluminum foil.  It is easier to serve and looks more festive.

Of course, we also had a nice wine selection.

The fireplace lit for the first time this fall...

...and we all enjoyed getting together for a fun evening.   The lovely young red-head in the background, standing behind her beautiful mother,  is one of the most important people in my life.  She comes by every evening to walk Walter.  He absolutely adores her and so do I!

We had a lively book discussion!  Here is Doreen summarizing the book highlights...

... while Sue, Nancy and I listen - see photo below.  Yes, we moved the wine onto the coffee table for easier access.  BTW, I picked up the silver tub at TJ Maxx last year for $15.  Isn't it the best?  You will see it at all my parties being used a vase for flowers, a chiller for wine and/or beer, a serving piece for punch or as a container for party gifts.  I also like the way it looks, so sometimes I have it on the coffee table as a focal piece.  This of course drives everyone crazy, because why would I put a large empty silver bowl on a coffee table at a party?  And the answer is, just because I like it.  LOL.

I had so much fun and stayed up way past my bedtime!  The morning after book club I still had wine glasses to wash and I didn't get to those until after I came home from work!

Until next time!

Genevieve

  2. I use to read your blog years ago and I know you stopped for awhile. I remember when things were tough for your family and you seemed a bit down. It is awesome to see how you are all doing so great. One of favorite saying that gets me though is
"This too shall pass"....I am so happy to see your blog back and your family moving forward and enjoying life!
